A free talk, with questions and discussion, by Revd Dr Duncan Dormor, General Secretary of USPG, on their Renewal and Reconciliation project working in partnership with the descendants of the enslaved of the Codrington Estate in Barbados. John Brathwaite, who is buried at St Martin’s Church and is memorialised there, was involved in the running of that Estate. He lived in Epsom with his niece Mary Ashley, one of the beneficiaries of his will, in the house which became known as Ashley House, and led to the naming of Ashley Road, and the Ashley Centre. Refreshments from 2.30 pm.
