DESCRIPTION:Epsom Choral Society presents Visions of Eternity – an evening of contemplative music from the 1850s to the modern day. \nIn a programme of radiant works\, Visions of Eternity will explore the different ways in which composers depict the idea of eternity\, tracing the celestial journey towards the unknown from ‘chariots of clouds’ and ‘flaming fires’ in Jonathan Dove’s dramatic Bless the Lord O my Soul to the hushed simplicity of Brahms’ Geistliches Lied. \nThe programme also features an ethereal setting of the Son of God Mass by James Whitbourn for choir\, saxophone and organ\, Arvo Pärt’s minimalist setting of the Salve Regina text and John Tavener’s moving response to the death of a friend’s father in Svyati for choir and solo cello. \nA concert of uplifting music to divert and delight our audience.
