SUMMARY:Elijah
DESCRIPTION:Epsom Choral Society sings Mendelssohn’s great oratorio\, Elijah\, with outstanding soloists and orchestra in St Martin’s Church in Epsom on Saturday 18th November 2023 at 7:30pm. \nFirst performed in 1846 at Birmingham Town Hall\, Mendelssohn’s Elijah is widely regarded as one of the greatest oratorios of the Romantic era. Inspired by the biblical account of the prophet Elijah\, the oratorio was composed in the spirit of Mendelssohn’s baroque predecessors\, Bach and Handel. \nUnder the baton of Julian Collings\, the performance will bring together a stellar cast of soloists\, including soprano Elizabeth Findon\, mezzo-soprano Judy Brown\, tenor John Findon\, and bass James Geidt.
