SUMMARY:Fantasia Viols & Voices - the music of Orlando Gibbons
DESCRIPTION:During the reign of James 1st English music was in very good hands. A particularly popular composer of music for families to play and sing at home of an evening was Orland Gibbons. The locally based group Fantasia Viols and Voices re-creates the sights and sounds of this music making with a consort of viols – predecessors of modern string instruments – and a small choir. Marking the 400th Anniversary of the composer’s death this free afternoon concert includes his sublimely beautiful madrigal ‘The Silver Swan’.

SUMMARY:Flamenco Christmas with Duo Destino at St Mary’s Church Ewell
DESCRIPTION:“St Mary’s Church\, Ewell will host a spectacular holiday concert on Saturday 20 December\, as internationally acclaimed virtuoso guitar duo Duo Destino bring flamenco fire and festive cheer to the stage. \nVirtuoso guitarists Ben Bruant and Will Cashel—known together as Duo Destino—will deliver their signature blend of dazzling fingerwork\, rhythmic flair\, and infectious energy in a performance that promises to be one of the highlights of the holiday season. Their sound is so rich and layered\, audiences often remark that it feels like more than two musicians are on stage. \nSince meeting at the Royal Academy of Music in London\, Ben (from Le Havre) and Will (from Bath) have captivated audiences across England\, France\, Italy\, and Spain. Their repertoire fuses Latin-inspired originals with bold\, flamenco-infused takes on everything from Albéniz to Daft Punk\, Dire Straits to The Gypsy Kings—a genre-defying journey that makes familiar tunes feel brand new.\nDuring the pandemic\, Duo Destino performed 70 free concerts in NHS workers’ gardens\, earning national recognition and the hearts of communities across the UK. They have since played for royalty\, appeared on BBC Radio 2 and Scala Radio\, now Magic Classical\, and lit up stages from Glastonbury Festival to the Bahrain Grand Prix. \nThis year’s concert will also celebrate their latest release\, Heartbeat—a stirring instrumental that fuses classical elegance with flamenco fire. Already a standout moment in their live shows\, Heartbeat has been praised for its emotional storytelling and hypnotic textures\, further cementing Duo Destino’s reputation as one of the UK’s most exciting virtuoso guitar duos.\n “

SUMMARY:Marty Supreme - One Night Only
DESCRIPTION:UCA Students Take Over Epsom Picturehouse Once Again for an Immersive Marty Supreme Cinema Experience\nEpsom\, Surrey – January 2026 — Students from University for the Creative Arts (UCA) Epsom are set to return to Epsom Picturehouse with another bold and imaginative cinema takeover — this time celebrating the release of Marty Supreme on January 20\, 2026.\nThe project forms part of UCA Epsom’s Experience Economy module\, which challenges students to go beyond traditional event planning and instead design memorable\, participatory experiences. The module encourages students to think creatively about how audiences engage with culture — blending film\, live performance\, interaction\, and atmosphere to transform a cinema visit into something immersive\, playful\, and social. \nUCA x Marty Supreme\nJanuary 20\, 2026 – Events starts 18:30\nOne night only — booking link https://www.picturehouses.com/moviedetails/000/HO00017435/marty-supreme-one-night-only-a-uca-cinematakeover?filter=\nLast year\, UCA students took over Epsom Picturehouse with a reimagining of Be Kind Rewind\, delivering live-action performances\, green-screen experiences\, and hands-on activities in the cinema. The event turned the venue into a creative playground and proved how film screenings can become shared\, experiential moments rather than passive viewing.\nNow\, a new cohort of students is dreaming up something even bigger.\nFollowing an early planning visit to the cinema\, the group is developing a series of interactive ideas and live experiences designed to enhance the Marty Supreme screening — promising big ideas\, fresh energy\, and a night that is about much more than just watching a movie.\nAbout Marty Supreme\nSet in 1950s New York\, Marty Supreme follows Marty Mauser\, played by Timothée Chalamet\, a street-smart optimist with one audacious goal: to become a champion table-tennis player and turn the sport into a national obsession. A story of belief\, ambition\, and refusing to be overlooked\, the film provides the perfect backdrop for a cinema experience built around confidence\, creativity\, and bold thinking.\nAt the heart of the project is Epsom Picturehouse\, Epsom’s boutique six-screen cinema in the heart of the town\, screening the best in arthouse and quality blockbuster films alongside a beautiful restaurant and bar. Joe Stroud\, Marketing Manager at Epsom Picturehouse\, said: “Collaborating with UCA students is all about celebrating community — supporting local creatives\, inviting fresh ideas into the space\, and remembering that cinema should be fun. It is about sharing film in new ways and having a genuinely valuable time together.\n“
