Epsom Jazz Club – Alina Bzhezhinska & Tony Kofi

This gig will see both a return for one of our artists and an “instrument first” at the club: Tony Kofi (who played his sax for us last year as part of Sharp Little Bones) will be joined by an album collaborator, Alina Bzhezhinska – who will be the first musician to bring a harp through the Epsom Jazz Club doors. Composer, recording artist, band-leader and one of the leading and most musically creative harpists in the world today, Alina Bzhezhinska won the Parliamentary Jazz Award’s Best Ensemble of the Year in 2024 for her group, the HipHarpCollective, and has collaborated with artists including Brian Jackson, Chaka Khan, Shabaka Hutchings, DJ Spinna and Sly Johnson. Also no stranger to awards and high-profile collaborations, Tony Kofi played Glastonbury last year as part of the new line-up of jazz funk legends Cymande, and has in the past collaborated with some true greats – in particular Donald Byrd, Eddie Henderson, Abdullah Ibrahim and Ornette Coleman. They will be joined by special guest playing percussion, Joel Prime. An evening not to miss.
Line-up:
Alina Bzhezhinska: harp
Tony Kofi: saxophone
Joel Prime: percussion
